Pet Boarding FAQs

Pet Boarding FAQs

At Magruder Tabb Animal Clinic, the health, safety, and happiness of all the pets entrusted to our care are our top priority, whether it is for veterinary services or pet boarding services. Our on-site boarding facility is part of our veterinary animal hospital, and every pet receives the best care for however long they need to board with us. Do you have questions about our Yorktown boarding facility? We hope the following answers to some of the most common questions we receive about pet boarding will help.

Should I use pet boarding or leave my pet at home?

Some pets will be more comfortable being left at home overnight or for a couple of days, including many cats and some older (but not senior) dogs, as long as someone reliable can consistently check on them. There is nothing wrong with that! However, if you are on this page, then you probably know your pet needs something more.

Young pets, senior pets, pets with medical needs, and pets with behavior issues like separation anxiety or reactivity to people entering the home will be much safer and happier within a pet boarding facility like ours. We can offer fast, efficient veterinary services where needed, and pets will have a set schedule and routine that reduces anxiety.

Will my pet be inside or outside?

All of our kennels are located inside and kept clean. Pets will be let outside a minimum of two times a day. You can also request additional walks and playtime or one-on-one time with a trained staff member for a nominal fee.

How far in advance do I need to schedule pet boarding?

If you are looking to book for a major holiday, such as Thanksgiving weekend, please give us a call and make your appointment as soon as possible. Our kennel fills up on these holidays, and a month or more notice is preferable. Outside of such holidays, we can work with you on whatever time schedule you need, whether that is a month in the future or this very afternoon.

Can I schedule veterinary services with pet boarding?

Our pet boarding facility is fully connected to our animal hospital. So when you book your pet's stay with us, you can also book them for services like:

• Annual wellness pet exams

• Dental care

• Flea and tick cleaning and preventative services

• Grooming

• Medical surgery, including spay and neuter

• Microchipping

• Vaccinations
